Job Description

Perform multiple paint functions to include application and removal of paint using methods common to the trade's field for the purpose of data collection and documentation in the research and development of military hardware and equipment. The Painter, Maintenance paints and redecorates walls, woodwork and fixtures. Work involves the following: knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint required for different applications, preparing surface for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices, and applying paint with spray gun or brush. This person may mix colors and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color or consistency. In general, the work of the maintenance painter requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Perform other duties as required to complete assigned mission.


Pay Rate: $22.09/hourShifts/Hours: Vary by mission requirementsMinimum Qualifications:• Must be a U.S. Citizen and not hold multiple citizenships.• Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed, sometimes on short notice, to support test missions.• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.• Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employment.• Must be a current TRAX employee or affiliate (SPIRAL, VETS, or WESTECH). • Must possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions.• Must have dependable transportation and a dependable means of communication.• Must be able speak, write, read, and understand English.• Must have a well-mannered customer service attitude.• Must be willing to cross-train in other areas.• Must use “down-time” effectively to the benefit of test, self, and company.• Must be punctual, responsible, and dependable.• Must demonstrate motivation, initiative, and reliability. • Must be adaptable, flexible, and able to adjust to new or changing instructions.• Must have a demonstrated ability to follow instructions and company policy. • Must be able to deliver quality products to the customer and be responsive to their needs. • Must be safety and security conscious, complying with rules and policies.• Must be able to work both as part of a team and independently.• Must have 5 years journeyman level experience or 2 years journeyman level and 3 years' experience sandblasting military equipment and target painting specific to YPG.• Must lead crew in painting and sandblasting tasks.• Must follow all safety guidelines as defined in current SOP's and regulations• Must be familiar with all Safety Data Sheets for products used in the performance of assigned tasks.• Must utilize all PPE required in the performance of daily duties.• Must be familiar with KOFA and Cibola ranges and be able to navigate in accordance with P-1001 and applicable range SOP's.• Must be able to operate of painting equipment (airless and compressed air) and sandblasting equipment.• Must perform inspection and limited repairs to paint and sandblast equipment.• Must be familiar with specific paint characteristics, application processes and method of application to include surface preparation, primer characteristics for adhesion to specific surfaces (metals, plastic, fiberglass and wood), durability and color equivalency matching.• Must perform application of paint schemes used for verification and calibration of systems under test, paint schemes layout, patterns and color combinations derive from TM manuals, field manuals and reflectivity characteristics testing data under direct supervision of senior section personnel.• Must be detail oriented.• Must be forklift certified.Physical Requirements:• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical and periodic retests.• Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned.• Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions including summer temperatures peaking around 120 degrees Fahrenheit.• Must be capable of lifting 100 lbs. unassisted repeatedly throughout the work day.Additional Desirable Qualifications:• Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)Closing Date: April 23, 2018.
