ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES OFFICER II
Arizona State Prison Complex (ASPC) - Yuma

This position provides administrative and operational support to the business office of ASPC-Yuma. This includes compliance with agency fiscal management, purchasing, contracting, and providing reports, insuring appropriate use of funds, and assisting producing budget requests and monitoring allocation of professional and outside services for the complex.
Maintains standard expenditure logs for other operating, travel, and professional and outside services
Evaluates, prepares and monitors allocations of annual budget
Prepares requests of fund transfers for the Operations Manager’s signature
Answers various questions, requests, and technical assistance to support staff
Designs spreadsheets, writes, calculates, and complies data for special projects, reports and related tasks
Consults bi-weekly with the Operations Manager/Business Office regarding budget as well a potential shortfalls
Conducts direct purchasing as required
Back-up to the Operations Manager and Operations Business Administrator when required
Supervises and trains subordinate staff
Attends quarterly Business Manager meetings
Drives on State business
Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
SPECIAL SELECTION FACTOR(S) – THE FOLLOWING ARE REQUIRED:
Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

Principles, concepts, and techniques related to governmental accounting, auditing requirements, and fiscal management

Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships
Using computer equipment and automated accounting systems
Work in a prison environment
Identify and draw from available resources to properly address inquiries
Read and comprehend spreadsheets, balance sheets, profit and loss reports, and other related financial documents
Accurately work with numbers and complete mandated reports in required formats and in a timely manner
Motivate and manage subordinates
Interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulations governing accounting functions
Articulate changes, problems, or methodology to others
SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S) - IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
Three years experience in administrative, managerial, or supervisory roles
Experience using personal computers, spreadsheet software and/or automated computer systems
Experience in governmental accounting

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
